Ingredients

Bechamel Sauce

  • 1L Milk
  • 80g Plain Flour
  • 80g Butter

Pastry

  • Readymade Puff Pastry Sheets
  • Smoked Ham
  • 1 Onion (diced and cooked until soft)
  • Cheddar Cheese (grated)

Bechamel Sauce

  • Melt the butter in a small pot
  • Stir in the flour continuously until solid
  • Whisk in the milk
  • Stir continuously until thick

Pastries

  • Cut the puff pastry sheets into squares
  • Mix together the cooked onions, ham and cheese and add to bechamel sauce
  • Egg or milk wash the corners of the pastry squares
  • Spoon 1tbsp of the sauce mixture into the center of each square and bring the corners into the center and pinch to seal
Bake on a floured baking tray in a 180C preheated oven for about 12mins or until golden brown.
Serve warm from the oven with tea or coffee.
Use whatever type of ham you like, ready cooked, pre cooked bacon, lardons etc.. There’s no reason you can’t use other meat or veg fillings either.
