For anyone who’s experienced a romantic breakup or two and the odd transitions from strangers to deep connection to strangers again, which is probably us all.. The Beatles, “For No One”:
I’ve recorded a couple of versions of this Beach Boys song from Pet Sounds in the last year, one “wall of sound” version and this raw, faulty, minimal one but this one just has something better I think..
The other one is here – https://soundcloud.com/reverbstudios/caroline-no
Our cover of “Waking Light” by the brilliant Beck..
Our cover of Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” with vocals, guitar, piano, bass and drums..
Our cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”. Karl on drums and strings, me on piano and vocal..
The latest cover from Leon and Karl at Reverb Studios! A dark Bob Dylan ballad..
Myself and Caroline’s acoustic cover of Simon & Garfunkle’s song with vocals, guitar and organ..
Myself and Karl’s cover of “Dear Prudence” by the Beatles. Such a cool toon! Karl on guitar, bass and drum track and me on main and trippy backing vocals..
My minimal cover of Where did you sleep last night in the original style of Lead Belly.. First recording with my new Martin D1R.
I re-came across John Lennon’s song “God” recently and a couple of things appealed to me, apart from the obvious atheistic sentiment..
One, the message, or at least the meaning that I took from it personally, that the only thing anyone really needs to believe in is themselves and two, that the lyrics could do with updating, modernising and personalising for the crack!
Far be it for me to mess with the work of one of the 20th century’s best songwriters but fuck it..
Thanks to Karl for the guitar.
“I just believe in me…”
